Utah Valley Women's Expo

Attention, shoppers. Attention shoppers from the Utah Valley area, in particular. Our lovely friends at Kaleidoscope Boutique invite you (and you and you) to attend the Utah Valley Women’s Expo this Friday and Saturday at the McKay Events Center in Orem.

Why, you ask? (Other than the slew of fashion shows, beauty demonstrations, interior design ideas and exercise tips?) Because Kaleidoscope is gonna be handing out three designer handbags by Roxbury and Treesje to three lucky winners and offering 20 percent off all gift cards if and when purchased from their booth, which will also feature local artwork like photography by Justin Hackworth.

That’s why, silly. Mother’s Day is just around the corner, you know. And because they’re extra nice, Kaleidoscope has free tickets to the show at their store (4801 N. University Ave., Provo).

Art Inside, Utah
What used to be the Boutique on Brentwood is now a fab affair called Art Inside. Has a nice ring, don’t you think? It also has a nice variety of goodies from local crafties like kids aprons, handbags, jewelry, photography, felted soaps—even hand-dyed yarns this year (2008 marks its fourth appearance). The affair goes down this weekend—Saturday only—from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Time to get your gift-shopping on. Or just socialize and wander the garden, which sounds pretty good right about now.

ModMum

Nobody likes to have their hands full. Rather, we like to throw them up in the air … and wave them around like we just don’t care. Even though we do care. For our wee babies, in particular.

Enter ModMum baby slings. These sturdy helper-outers are at-once stylish and useful—our favorite combination, next to peanut butter and chocolate. You can have little little Ella or Otto nuzzled up to you while you fill your plate at the shower, or while you fold your laundry, or while you shop for that perfect post-pregnancy top. And you’ll look good while you’re doing it.

ModMum baby slings

ModMum reversible slings come in an assortment of fun patterns and bright colors, which will also make getting dressed a cinch. What will look good with the super-cute Olivia? We know! Your favorite fitted T-shirt. What about the whimsical Carmen? How’s about your favorite plain-colored T-shirt? Of course, they’ll look good with your crisp blouses and pintucked smocks, too. And attention, city gals, ModMum knows that black is the new black. Check out the all-sleek Viv.

shade clothing swim

You’ve got spring on the brain. And with thoughts of spring come thoughts of summer. And with summer come weeklong cruises, weekends at the lake and Saturday afternoons at the pool. Ah, the sweet smell of saltwater and/or chlorine, mixed with Banana Boat.

Just one problem: last year’s swimsuit.

It’s used, abused—and it never really held everything in like it should have in the first place. Enter new demure styles from Shade Clothing. For 2008, you should be wearing something flattering and streamlined like the Huntington Top in deep blue, or Shade’s sweet and simple Malibu Swim Top. You’ve always loved that unexpected orchid color, and the handy dandy built-in bra is pretty much a no-brainer.

Curvy ladies will appreciate the feminine glam of the Newport or sleek-and-sexy Key West top. The hug-it-all-in Slimmer Swim Bottoms are ingenious for covering your assets. Or, you can opt to keep it cool with the regular mid-rise variety.

It’s all mix-and-match, so why not mix it up? Looks like this year things should go swimmingly.

Shade Clothing has six new tops, two bottoms, and even two swim skirts for Summer ’08. All are available now at www.shadeclothing.com, and at their three new retail locations along the Wasatch Front.

Feeling Green

Monday, March 17th, 2008
green.gif

Like most of you, we’re feeling a little green at Your Heart Out today. As you’re probably well-aware, it isn’t the first time. Last year on March 17 we displayed some of hip green-colored fashions, and last February we told you about of favorite local green-titled vintage shop.

Like Barneys and its over-the-top holiday windows, we’ve turned on to the earth-friendly kind of green. We dished about our favorite environmentally-friendly online boutique, as well as a local eco-chic building center. Plus, we spilled some cool options for green shopping bags.

Today, we’ll be spewing off a few more greenies. Hip hip hurray for these favorite green things, which you should definitely check out:

Have any green favorites you wanna share? Let us know in the comments. And a happy St. Patrick’s Day to you.
