When you have a hankering to leave town but don’t have a lot of time to travel, living in Salt Lake comes in handy. It’s just so easy to get out of. Think mountain trails, alpine air and charming bedroom communities that make getaways here a breeze.

Case in point: Midway, Utah. It’s a short drive from the city, nestled in a charming little valley, laden with cheery Swiss influence (lederhosen optional) and offers a perfect breather for the young, the old, the history-buff and the beauty-seeker, alike.

More specifically, revisit the Homestead. Aside from old-timey Swiss architecture and cozy, cottage-style accommodations that ensure quiet nights, everyone’s favorite family resort boasts swimming pools, tennis courts, a 7,000-yard golf course and curious 55-foot crater that’s perfect for soaking your weary winter bones.

After a 50-hour workweek, we’re partial to curling up with a good book in one of the Homestead’s gazebos or getting a good pampering at the Aveda Concept Spa. Or, just grab your honey and stroll the grounds at dusk to get a good dose of detox. All these amenities, plus two restaurants on-site that whip up hearty meals make the Homestead a tough place to leave. So does the noon checkout time. There’s no rushing when it comes to the Homestead, unless you want to hurry and reserve a mother daughter spa package.

{Doorprize!} That Simon Schneitter was onto something when it comes to Homesteading. How does an overnight stay in cottage-style accommodations, golf for two and dinner for two sound to you? This nearly $400 in value doorprize could be yours (holidays excluded). Just leave one comment on this post before midnight on Sunday, April 26.
