Strolling With The Homies

Remember how we said one of our favorite things about Salt Lake is the gallery stroll? Well, to be fair, it was a tie between the stroll and the farmer’s market. But since the gallery is the one that’s currently dangling itself before our eyes, it’s the one we’re entertaining.
It’s the third Friday of the month, which means the Salt Lake Gallery Stroll is on. It also means it’s time for you to rub shoulders with artsy types, snack on cheese and crackers, gather inspiration or shop for new faces to add to your collection.
We’ll be heading to Finch Lane Gallery/Art Barn (1325 E. 100 South) to check out photos of Momoko Fritz’s recent trip to Japan, and the Salt Lake Art Center (20 S. West Temple), where one of three exhibits is “New Narrative: Warhol, Stella, Marden, Fitzpatrick,” and features prints by the American icons.
The stroll starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. (with a few exceptions depending on the gallery). You can see a list of officially-participating galleries here, and begin mapping your walk. Or drive. Baby, it’s cold outside.

I have heard that the show at the Art Center is really good. I hope to see it this weekend!

Thanks for the reminder! We’ll be out there braving the cold too, but it’ll be worth it.

For those of you who know Ashley Poor she was there 6 months ago showing her art. I’ve also gone for the music which was pretty good, too! It might be to cold for me to brave it this friday, but come spring I will be there.

Also, if you’re at SLAC be sure to go see the Bill Viola video installation. It is remarkable! Take some time to sit down and watch it… at first it’s a little odd, but soon you’ll get it. Viola is one of the most remarkable video/installation artists of our time. love it.
