Ask Your Heart Out: Wedding Lighting

askyho.gif
Megan wrote in on behalf of her bride-to-be-sister looking for a local business or person that knows how to place pin lights on a wedding cake as well as a gazebo … for lighting and effect. She’s also in the market for a gobo (that’s when the the just-married couple’s initials are cut into a steel plate and placed over a light source). In a nutshell, we’re looking for someone in the professional lighting arena that might specialize in event production, as some Chinese lanterns need to be strung and lit, too!

Anyone have any leads for Megan? Help a girl out and comment below, please.

Off the top of my head:

*Culinary Crafts comes to mind. I’ve been to many weddings that they’ve put together and have seen some gorgeous use of light. I know they specialize in catering, but I’m almost positive that Mary (the owner) also does general wedding planning and has done some of these things. Look through their wedding slideshows…amazing.

*Diamond Rental- I used them for my own wedding and they have Japanese Lanterns. http://www.diamondrental.com/home.htm

Good luck, wish I knew more…and CONGRATS to the bride to be!

I used the company SceneMakers, locally in Sugarhouse, and they were WONDERFUL!! My husband is Japanese and we did utilize lanterns and canned lighting…through them…and it was awesome! I would call and ask them! You could contact Lara at 801-463-2827! They have so so much to choose from. They also did a TON of decor for the Olympics! Good luck!

I know the wedding planners at Design Elite weddings are really into lighting and have worked with gobos before. Their Web site is: http://designelitetemp.com/

I used a local company, in Sugarhouse, called Scene Makers and they were absolutely WONDERFUL!!! For our wedding we used a bunch of lanterns, hanging umbrellas, canned lighting, etc. and it was beautiful, well I thought, at least:) But they were wonderful to work with and had great, great ideas! They also did a lot of decor for the Olympics. I would definitely contact them even just to see what ideas they have! We used Lara, and her contact info to the office is 8014632827! Good luck:)

I would not suggest using Design Elite. I have worked with them in the past and they are extremely unorganized. They also try to embarrass brides into upgrading their package.

Thank you so much to everyone who left a comment. I seriously have been trying to find a lead for weeks. Hopefully one of these will work out!!! THANK YOU!
