Ask Your Heart Out: Apple Cider Donuts

Fall, meet our friend apple. Apple, allow us to introduce you to cider. Cider, it’s time you meet donut. Wait, donut? Here’s something we’ve never had the pleasure of meeting. Fall is here, and YHO reader Steph is looking for someone who makes/sells apple cider donuts to celebrate the season. And we thought we’d like to know, too. This is an acquaintance we would like to make this fall and next.
Any ideas out there?

The Big Red Barn in Santaquin has some pretty tasty donuts made with their homemade cider. They’re also doing hayrides to the pumpkin patch right now. They also sell apple slush which you can order a la mode with their homemade vanilla custard. It’s delicious! I think Macey’s is selling their donuts now too and I’ve heard on a few nights they’re giving them away (with cider) for free!

We love love love Southridge Farms’ cider donuts (the Big Red Barn). And I thought you meant that Macey’s was selling Southridge Farms’ donuts, but alas…they have their own apple spice donuts they sell that we’ll have to give a try. Thanks!

I know Farnsworth Farms had plans to buy a donut maker for the purpose of cider donuts. I have high hopes that she will find some, because we too, have a hankering.

On page 127 of the October Food Network magazine, there is a great recipe to make your own!

Thanks for the tips everyone! I’ve heard about the Big Red Barn in Santaquin. I had no idea Macey’s sold them, and Farnsworth Farms’ website is down! I saw the recipe in Food Network Mag but when I looked it up online, it had mixed reviews… Hopefully I’ll find another thumbs-up recipe! Happy Fall!
