Check It Out

Get the haps on Salt Lake City in this li’l list. Nothing like a game of linky-linky to jumpstart the weekend.

The fun starts here: Thanks to Fox 13 and Lagoon, you can get two-for-one “Date Night” deals to the area’s best (and only) amusement park on Fridays and Saturdays after 5 p.m. through August 18. Download the coupon here, and get details here.

Missed the previews?: In case you missed some of our big box forecasting, catch up with the latest on the comings-and-goings of Salt Lake’s big box retailers with Lesley Mitchell of the Salt Lake Tribune right here.

Days of 47 Salt Lake CitySaddle up: The only thing better than Reality TV is a good dose of rodeo. Or so the commercials for the Days of ’47 Rodeo say. See these cowboys get down and dirty any night through July 24 at 7 p.m. at the Energy Solutions Arena (PBR showings begin at noon on Saturday and the grand finale begins at 4 p.m. on the 24th.) Tickets available at 801.325.7328 and Ticketmaster.com.

Ding ding went the trolley: Wanna help determine the fate of the abandoned rail line that runs along 2200 South in Sugar House? UTA has narrowed down its options for mass-transit routes in the area. Though nothing might take place for a couple of decades, you can directly affect our city’s future by voting via comment right here. (Also catch updates on the trolley revival, a charming possibility, right here.)

Pioneer Park Concert Series Salt Lake CityAlso at Pioneer Park: Aside from our favorite event at this quad, you can also enjoy free music with the Pioneer Park Concert Series every friday night at 6 p.m. through August 31. Tonight Harry Lee and the Back Ailey Blues Band and Ashley K. take the stage. Don’t forget your blanket.

Secret’s Out: Travelocity sought-out some local gems we didn’t know about in its latest “Local Secrets, Big Finds” list. Five Utah destinations to make the list of 300 nationwide “hotspots” include The Oaks Restaurant in Ogden Canyon, the Wasatch Wildflower Festival, Ruth’s Diner, and more. Get the rest here.

Slow Train Salt Lake CityRide the Train: After cupcaking it up, head to 300 South’s Slowtrain for a screenprinting party with Potter Press. Bring a used tee and $5 to make your newest closet addition. Slowtrain is having a 10-hour birthday bash starting at noon on Saturday with live bands, raffles and tacos. More information here (scroll down).

Have a good weekend!
