Dear Lizzie

Prepare for cute overload: There’s a shop in Highland that will make all of your girliest dreams come true. Even if you’re not a shabby chic aficionado, chances are that Dear Lizzie’s attempt at visual perfection will win you over. That, or the four-dollars-of-fun specialty drink they serve up called the “Dizzy Lizzie” which is heavy on the whipped cream and equally un-shy with cherry syrup.
A cutesy mecca, Dear Lizzie is the truest kind of local boutique store-and-so-much-more, selling clothes, accessories, home decor—even food. Next time you and your BFFs need an after-work pick-me-up or a time-out from the kiddos, you can count on Dear Lizzie as a welcome getaway.

Even if the style isn’t necessarily “your thing,” you’re likely to appreciate the detailed merchandising that includes a wallpapered cooler that houses nicely-decorated (if a little pricey) cupcakes and one of the sweetest candy displays you’ve ever seen.
Dear Lizzie’s many corners are stocked chock-full of charming things like those ever-popular Trumpette socks and baby headbands as well as copies of “The Birthday Cake Book” and sweet-smelling Gianna Rose Atelier soaps and lotions. You’ll also see eyelet smocks, Lollia bath potions and lace-trimmed scrapbook kits. There’s even bedding and a vast dangly jewelry collection that looks like dress-ups for adults.

Dear Lizzie is one part boutique, one part bistro, which makes this little respite all the better. Similar in look and feel to a tea shop, menu items include sandwiches like turkey pesto on a toasted baguette (served with chips and fruit, $7.45 whole, $5 half) and a sweet spinach salad ($4.50). You’ll probably want to bring your most ladylike hat.

Dear Lizzie is cute cute cute beyond compare. Their cupcakes are a bit overpriced though…and maybe made from a mix?!? Good thing the Dizzy Lizzie drink makes up for that. It’s probably the best drink I’ve ever had.

I happened onto Dear Lizzie last week with my husband. We noticed the bistro sign and decided to stop for lunch. I thought it was good, although a little over priced. The sugar cookie was delicous. My husband on the other hand couldn’t get out of there quick enough. It was too much for him!

I always wanted to be Queen Frostine from the CandyLand game, and create a kingdom of sweets, sparkles, and swirlywhirlygirl things all my own that people would travel from far and wide to admire…. It looks like someone beat me to it…. CURSES!
